A town judge was removed from the bench after being found to have acted with ill intentions, as reported by a June 27, 2012 New York Law Journal published article.

After reviewing the judge’s cases it was found that on multiple occasions the judge presided over legal matter that involved his girlfriend without disclosing to the court of their relationship or seeking to have the case removed. The Judge attempted to have his sanction dismissed on the grounds he was not related to his girlfriend, but it was denied by the Court of Appeals.

The Court of Appeals found that the judge should be removed because his behavior clearly “demonstrates a misuse of his judicial office and damages public confidence in his integrity and impartiality.”
