bigstock Woman in prison VectorA New York mother was found guilty of neglecting her child which caused abusive injuries while the child was in her care, as reported by the New York Law Journal in an October 15, 2012 article.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) filed the petition against the mother and another for actions that occurred. Specifically, the ACS filed a petition for the neglect that caused the death of the child’s sibling in addition to the injuries the child was subjected too.

The court ruled that based on a significant amount of evidence submitted by the ACS that the mother was guilty of neglect and abuse. However, the court ruled that they were unable to find that the mother caused repeated abusive actions or that she was sole abuser due to the period of time over which the abuse took place.  Based on this ruling the mother may have criminal charges filed against her.
