The Bloomberg Consumer reported in a February 28, 2013 news article that the Consumer Comfort Index rose in early 2012 showing that jobless claims were dropping. Economists are stating that these numbers may be a good indicator that this year the economy will stabilize.

People applying for jobless benefits fell by 22,000 applicants in February, which are lower than what several economists were predicting. These numbers were delivered by the U.S. Labor Department and show that more employers are hiring rather than making cuts.

Although the numbers show that the economy is on the rise there is still concerns that the government’s looming budget cuts and spending, rising gasoline rises, and higher payroll taxes may cause the numbers to drop again. Economists are hopeful for the job market and believe that the economy will hold up reasonably. But still economists are hesitant to say how much it will improve due to these challenges approaching.
